New state-of-the-art dental clinic opens in Kimberley

It is a vision 10 years in the making and in recent weeks it has come to full fruition with the opening of the new Kimberley Family Dental Clinic.

When owner, Dr. Eric Nelson, purchased the practice from well-known dentist Dr. Robin Douglas, he envisioned the day when he would transform the clinic into an expanded, modern facility that was both comfortable for patients and easy to access, utilizing the latest in dental technology and incorporating the best of the mountain lifestyle of Kimberley.

The result is a brand new 3,000-square- foot state-of-the-art dental clinic with nine operatory suites that are as comfortable and welcoming as they are practical and professional. The clinic also includes a full dental laboratory, dentists’ professional space, and a downstairs staff lounge and conference room. The office is beautifully finished with timber accents, vaulted ceiling and a spectacular natural rock fireplace gracing the waiting room.

“Our vision was to build a new office that would be a tribute to the mountain spirit of the community as well as a comfortable space for our patients,” said Dr. Nelson. “It allows our dentists to spend quality time with our patients, in a relaxed setting, and better look after their dental needs.”

The clinic is equipped with the latest dental technology and patient comforts like digital imaging equipment, dedicated in-clinic lab, dental chairs that have built-in massage features, in-ceiling televisions, children’s play area and a spacious and tastefully appointed waiting room. There is a dedicated parking lot, and the clinic also offers full wheelchair access—plus, as a bonus, a magnificent view of the Kimberley Alpine Resort.

“The City of Kimberley was very supportive and co-operative during our building process, which took just under 12 months,” said Dr. Nelson. “I think we built the first new commercial building in Kimberley in many years, and the City really appreciated the economic value that this kind of investment brings to the community.”

Kimberley Family Dental provides general dentistry along with orthodontics, wisdom teeth removal, implants, crowns and bridges, Botox and sedation dentistry.

With the expanded clinic, new patients are welcome.

“We are seeing a demographic shift in Kimberley with many young families coming to the area,” said Dr. Nelson. “We are pleased to provide a new facility for our existing patients and certainly welcome new families as patients as well.”

He added, “We have a very welcoming staff, and patient reaction to our new Kimberley clinic has been very positive. We’re close to downtown, we have lots of parking —we invite existing and new patients to stop by and see all that our new clinic has to offer.”

Dr. Nelson operates dental clinics in both Kimberley and Cranbrook. In Kimberley, Dr. Nelson works along with dentist Dr. Laura Caylor; Dr. Jordan Enns will be joining the practice in the fall. The clinic employs 14 people in Kimberley, with similar staffing in Cranbrook.
