Cranbrook welcomes new Business Development Coordinator
The City of Cranbrook has welcomed Darren Brewer to the new position of Business Development Coordinator. Brewer’s position will be critical to the City as it moves forward to encourage business opportunities, promote development within the Tembec Lands industrial area and partner with strategic organizations and regional stakeholders.
Originally from England, Brewer grew up in Toronto where he started his career in IT in 1999. He has a Business Marketing Diploma from Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario, and an extensive background in marketing for high-tech industries—including office technology, legal e-discovery services, mobile satellite communications and marine accessories. His most recent work has been as a Business Development Manager with a Cranbrook area developer, which will feed in well with attracting business to the Cranbrook area.
Reporting to the Director, Office of Innovation and Collaboration, Brewer will work closely with many departments, including Planning and Development, Communications, Public Works and IT. He will be critical in providing his unique perspective.
“We look forward to Darren’s bright, energetic look on things and are anxious to have him network and explore ideas with our various partners, including the Chamber of Commerce, Cranbrook Tourism, the Regional District of East Kootenay, Columbia Basin Trust, City of Kimberley and numerous others.”
Brewer is the proud father of his son Ollie, and they are both proud of Shankly, their golden retriever. When he isn’t busy being a Dad, he likes to lead an active lifestyle playing hockey, soccer and fishing. In fact, Brewer used to play Ontario Soccer League soccer for the Barry City FC.
