Lifestyle

Lifestyle

Our lifestyle is unparalleled. With the Rocky Mountains, rivers and lakes just minutes from our doorstep, we have access to some of B.C.’s best skiing, golfing, biking and fishing opportunities. Plus, we have a burgeoning arts scene and an emerging health and wellness industry.

In less than an hour, you can also be exploring huge networks of backcountry forestry roads and nearby parks, which provide access to high alpine peaks.

The region’s temperate climate is favourable to life here, with an average summer temperature of 25C, and average winter high temperatures of only a few degrees below zero. With over 300 days of annual sunshine, our region is also the sunniest in B.C.

It’s the perfect place to raise a family

Our communities are close-knit and connected by 30 kilometres of pristine paved pathway. We have theatres for visual and performing arts, aquatic centres, municipal recreation facilities and several conferencing facilities.

You see, people don’t end up here by chance, they choose to be here. They want to work hard, then play. They say no to long commutes and seek affordability for their businesses and families. They want their kids to have the ultimate childhood, growing up in a secure community and having access to higher education, business and outdoor recreation. They want more, without a sacrifice.

Location

Location

The Cranbrook-Kimberley Development Zone has the location that makes business easier. As the economic hub for southeastern B.C., the Zone is home to regional health and government services, transportation, logistics and warehousing. We serve an immediate market of 100,000, in addition to 4.5 million provincial neighbours who come here to shop, recreate and do business.

Cranbrook and Kimberley are just 25 minutes from each other and halfway between them is the Canadian Rockies International Airport, with multiple daily flights to Calgary, Vancouver and Kelowna.

  • We are only an hour from Canada’s largest trading partner and just a few hours from Canada’s third largest municipality.

Who is CKDI?

Who is CKDI?

The Cranbrook-Kimberley Development Initiative (CKDI) is a non-profit society that was formed by local business leaders, the mayors and key municipal staff to present our region as one economic zone.

Their aim is to:

  • Attract new businesses
  • Facilitate growth
  • Produce jobs
  • Reduce upwards pressure on tax rates
  • Increase the population

In other words, CKDI wants the region to grow and thrive.
Along with the municipalities, over 50 businesses have invested their own money into targeted sales and marketing activities – which are overseen by an eight-person board of contributing local business leaders.

Entrepreneurs looking for irresistible business opportunities, CKDI is here for you.

Available Land Inventory

Available Land Inventory

As any entrepreneur will know, a business needs land, labour, and capital to produce goods and services.

CKDI has land to accommodate all your business needs, from an existing selection of commercial and retail space to raw serviced land ready to accommodate your custom shop and warehouse facility – typically at half the cost you would find in Calgary or Vancouver without compromising on the other ingredients a successful business requires.

Refer to the map below, which illustrates the Available, Under-used or currently In Use properties that could be utilized for your business. Zoom the map using the +/- button or using your mouse scroll. “Click and Grab” map using your mouse and move map in all directions. Click on a property to see the property details.

GREEN: Indicates that the property is currently AVAILABLE for purchase, lease and improvements.

Business comes easy, with lower land costs.
